Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here.

Meet Devon!

  • Devon Cuellar, independent photographer.

Happily sharing the joy of my work while celebrating your important steps in life!

  • How it started:

Photography has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. When I was 7, I longed for the days when my grandparents would get National Geographic magazines in the mail. As any kid would, I loved seeing those cool close-ups of lions showing their fangs mid-yawn. But what I found truly fascinating were the 'behind the scenes' sections where I could glimpse the effort it took to snap those rare moments. I was amazed by the photographers who hid silently in the brush for hours on end so a kid in Kentucky could see something special. Even at that age, I knew I wanted to be behind the lens.

Growing up, I was lucky to have a family who always encouraged me to pursue my passions. We weren’t wealthy, but when my interest became clear, I never wanted for material to consume. My mom would come home with things that made her think of me. One time, she even snagged vintage photography magazines from the 1950s at a yard sale. From books to youtube videos, I devoured whatever I could get my hands on.

At the age of 13, I received my very first camera (shown above). There’s only so much learning you can do without practice, and suddenly I’d found myself in a new world. I snapped nearly everything that crossed my path. My friends became wonderfully gracious sports regarding my camera obsession. They got very used to hearing, “Hey, can we stop for a sec so I can take some pictures?” I had fallen absolutely in love with the art.

  • How it's going:

My passion for photography is as alive today as it's ever been. That same sense of childhood wonder is still inside of me, making its appearance every time I'm shooting. I've gained plenty of experience over the years, and I continue to grow each day. As it is with anything, developing skill takes plenty of time, patience, and the fortitude to overcome obstacles. There is so much that goes into establishing your place in a craft.

And figuring it out has been an incredible experience! Experimenting with different styles, locations, and techniques. Diving into the immense world of editing. Researching which gear best suits my budget and needs. Familiarizing myself with poses that yield results and make clients comfortable. Tackling the transition from hobby to business. All of the work I've put into this has granted me the privilege of discovering things about myself along the way, which I’m especially grateful for.

I love what I do, and sharing the joy of my work with you is my favorite part! Whatever the occasion, being part of your moment is an honor. Your goals for our sessions truly bring meaning to my work. From celebrating your milestones to representing your brand, it's exciting to tailor each gallery to suit your needs. I hope by reading this, you’ll see that I’m genuinely committed to capturing something special for you to look back on for years to come. If you’ve made it this far, thank you for your time! I hope to meet you soon! :)

A Few Of My Favorite Things…

WAY TO SPEND A MORNING

Enjoying a book by an open window or having breakfast with my husband. He makes the best sunny side up eggs! But I might be a tad biased…

OUTDOOR ACTIVITY

Camping out with friends or just taking my sweet pup to the park

DRINK

Coffee! I like it basically any way it comes, as long as it has caffeine. I especially like making my own cold brew.

PLACE TO SHOP

Hands down, it’s gotta be Kiwi Vintage in Owensboro. It’s a fun, locally owned shop that specializes in vintage attire & goods!

HOBBY

Reading, playing video games, watching live music, cooking, and singing in the shower (or to my mostly accommodating cats)

STATE TO TRAVEL TO

Oregon takes my breath away with its moody, misty coastline. It’s also where my husband proposed!
